Pavin to join field at 71st Senior PGA Championship
U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Corey Pavin will be joined by newly chosen assistants Tom Lehman and Jeff Sluman in a premier international field, May 25-30, in the 71st Senior PGA Championship at Colorado Golf Club in Parker.
Pavin will make his debut in the most historic and prestigious event in senior golf, while Lehman returns to the Championship for a second straight year, and Sluman makes his third consecutive appearance.
The Senior PGA Championship, featuring perennially the strongest 156-player field in senior golf, will be challenged by Colorado Golf Club. One of the premier new courses in America, Colorado Golf Club opened in 2007. It serves as the site of the first PGA of America-conducted major championship in Colorado since 1985, when Hubert Green captured the 67th PGA Championship at Cherry Hills Country Club.
The Senior PGA Championship also will be the third major championship in senior golf to be conducted in Colorado, following the 1993 U.S. Senior Open at Cherry Hills and the 2008 U.S. Senior Open at The Broadmoor.
Co-designed by Bill Coore and two-time Masters Champion and 1999 Ryder Cup Captain Ben Crenshaw, Colorado Golf Club was recognized in 2007 by GOLF Magazine as one of the top new private courses in the country. Colorado Golf Club rests in an undisturbed enclave in Parker, surrounded by 1,100 acres of open space. The par-72 layout can be stretched to 7,604 yards, making it the longest to host a Senior PGA Championship in Colorado.
