Wake-up calls
This is a special time of year for Colorado, when at sunrise, as that big ball is almost entering the eastern horizon, illuminating its brilliance only on those snow covered peaks high enough to embrace the sun’s glory, bouncing an orange glow against the majesty of the mountains, providing us early risers with the most amazing wake-up call to start our day.
When was the last time you stepped outside your home or stopped your car to let the beauty of our sunrises sink in? Have you ever set your alarm so that you can wake up in time to be there live and in person and not just see a magnificent sunrise on someone else’s Facebook page or from their cell phone picture?
So many of us try to live our lives vicariously through the photos and lives of others that we forget about capturing the precious and significant moments of our own lives. We allow others to visualize and achieve successes that we only dream about, forgetting about our own purpose and passion.
Consider this your wake-up call. Good morning, today is your day!
It is the day that you will seek out opportunity, reach harder, stretch further, build or repair a relationship, commit to waking up just a little earlier, laugh at yourself while smiling at everyone else. Today is the day, claim it as your day of achievement.
OK, so you are now asking “Well what am I going to achieve? What does this mean?”
Today is your wake-up call. You are that orange glow bouncing off the mountain top at sunrise brightening your own day as well as all those you will touch. You will close a sale, schedule more appointments for future sales calls, send out more resumes, research and prepare for that interview, cook dinner for a loved one, send flowers, write a poem, get to the gym, do someone a favor, donate your time and talents, smile at someone, anyone.
Be awake and alert, keep your opportunity antenna up, and expect that something special will happen not just to you today, but because of you. This is your wake-up call, don’t hit the snooze button, but rise like the champion that you are.
The only real beauty of a sunrise or sunset is when someone actually gets to see them. Bring out the sunrise in you and tell me what happens at msnorton@comcast.net and when you do, I know it will be a better than good week.
