Bruins bounced from playoffs

Football is over for Cherry Creek this year.
In the second round of the Class 5A state championship playoffs, last year’s runner-up Cherry Creek, the No. 24 seed this season, took a loss at the hands of No. 8 ThunderRidge Nov. 11 at the Stutler Bowl in Greenwood Village with a 31-19 final.
Against the Grizzlies, Bruins quarterback Kain Colter threw two touchdown passes and ran one into the end zone from 35 yards out in the first quarter. Colter finished with 153 passing yards and rushed for 114.
Matt Ratner caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from Colter in the fourth. John Joyce caught a 5-yard pass Colter for a touchdown as well. Joyce had 55 receiving yards, and Ratner finished with 50.
Creek finished its 2009 season with a 5-6 overall record.
