Kaiser takes seat among trustees
By Nicole Chillino
Jeffrey Kaiser was appointed to the Monument Board of Trustees Aug. 3.
He was selected to fill the vacancy left by former mayor Byron Glenn and will serve in the capacity of a trustee. He was chosen by a secret ballot from a pool of three candidates.
“I would like to contribute my time, talents and efforts to help keep the town of Monument a great place to live,” Kaiser wrote in his application for the position.
In his profession, an electrical engineer, he said he has worked with a diverse group of people from corporate executive officers to production operations personnel. He said he has also lived in four other countries so he has had the opportunity to see how different governments work, which he hopes will be an asset to the board.
Kaiser would like to see the town continue to grow responsibly and said it is vital for the town to plan its growth.
“I’m not attempting to join this board with an agenda in mind,” he stated in his application. He added he would like to become more informed about the issues the community faces and play an active role in solving problems.
“I think we have an outstanding community,” he said. He added there are a lot of people in the town who volunteer their time and are involved in their local area.
Mayor Travis Easton informed all the board member candidates of the time commitment required of board members. He said trustees also attend meetings outside those called by the board for organizations such as the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments, Baptist Road Rural Transportation Authority and Rocky Mountain Rail Authority.
