$76 million expansion

Parker Adventist Hospital is growing thanks to the approval of a $76 million financing from its sponsor, Adventist Health Systems.
“The process started about two years ago,” Parker Adventist Hospital CEO, Terry Forde said. “Due to the critical needs of our services and the community.”
The two-phase project should be completed by mid-2011 and a local construction company, G.E. Johnson is already working on the first phase. Sixty beds will be added to the 100-bed hospital. New space for spinal surgery, neurosurgery and a sleep center will also come with this project.
“We are excited to be growing,” Rachel Robinson, PR/Marketing Director for Parker Adventist Hospital said. “Now people don’t have to travel far. The expertise is right in their backyard.”
The first phase additions also include five operating rooms and additional support space for a post-anesthesia care unit, pre-operation area and a sterile processing department. Ten additional OB patient rooms will service patients as well. With the enlargement of medical beds, the ability to offer intensive care services will double, and Forde said the patients now will be able to stay at Parker Adventist Hospital longer, instead of being transferred to sister facilities.
“Since opening five years ago, the number of patients we care for has doubled,” Forde said. “We expect that growth to continue as the south Denver metropolitan area continues to grow.”
Along with the expansion phases, additional growth on the hospital campus includes the August opening of a four-story, 80,000 square foot Parker Professional Building II.
“The building will offer physical therapy, primary care, pediatric care and Children’s Hospital will open a new office,” Forde said.
With the hospital expansion construction, 100 new jobs and specialty services available, Forde said this project is a strong foundation for the community.
